The FlaSEIA Government Affairs & Policy Manager will develop and execute the FlaSEIA government relations strategy with the purpose of effectively representing and advancing policy issues on behalf of the Florida solar and storage industry. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience and success in influencing state and local policy in the state of Florida. This role requires active engagement with both state and local government officials, elected officials, appointed boards, regulators, energy consumers and utilities. This role requires a solid understanding of energy industry trends, how electric utilities operate, the regulatory environment, contractor licensing and permitting in Florida. This person works in partnership with FlaSEIA lobbyist to advocate and advance solar and storage with legislative and executive branch, will monitor activities of the Construction Industry Licensing Board (CILB), Electrical Contractors Licensing Board (ECLB) and Florida Building Commission (FBC), maintain oversight of the Solar Power PAC and lead fundraising activities. He/she works in collaboration with public relations and marketing team to ensure relevant and timely communication of issues to members; messaging for media inquiries; talking points, one-pagers, and information on industry issues.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Policy, Law or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two or more years of relevant legislative and regulatory experience
- Knowledge and experience with Florida permitting, licensing and codes.
- Based in Florida and ability to travel throughout the state of Florida
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; skilled in writing clear and concise reports and speaking with stakeholders from different backgrounds.
- Overnight travel, early morning, evening or weekend hours required.
