Florida’s 2026 Legislative Session Kicks Off
Florida’s 2026 Legislative Session Kicks Off
Yesterday kicked off Florida’s 2026 Legislative Session which is shaping up to be a fast-moving, high-stakes 60-day sprint that ends on March 13th. There have been more than 1,200 bills filed heading into session with lawmakers focused on several dominant themes that are expected to compete for floor time and budget attention, including property taxes, insurance affordability, education policy, and the regulation of AI and data centers.
Governor DeSantis delivered his final State of the State address highlighting his wins over his tenure in office while urging lawmakers to send him legislation on immigration, gun rights, rural policy and his continued efforts to dismantle diversity, equity and inclusion programs. Economic development and support for rural areas is also a top issue returning this session with Senate President Ben Albritton looking to secure his signature initiative framed as a “rural renaissance” package. Speaker Perez highlighted taxes, affordability and insurance as top issues his chamber would focus on.
While energy was not mentioned as a headline issue, it is increasingly embedded in broader debates over infrastructure growth, housing, resilience, and economic development—all of which depend heavily on Florida’s ability to permit projects faster and with fewer regulatory bottlenecks.
Below is a comprehensive list of bills FlaSEIA is tracking this Session.
