Overview:

The Project Manager is responsible for coordinating the Crew Leads responsible for solar installation, managing time and budgets, and translating between engineers, system designers, and installers in the field. They are ultimately responsible for the quality of work, and for executing projects on time and on budget.

Solar Impact’s Ideal Project Manager possesses the following traits:

• Bachelor’s Degree in construction management

• PMP Certification

• Journeyman level electrical training

• 3 or more years prior project management experience

• 2 or more years’ experience in solar installation

• Planning and budgeting experience

• Personnel and resource management experience

• Ability to multitask

• Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills

Job Responsibilities:

• Maximize efficiency in the implementation of detailed project plans.

       ○ Manage installation schedules, keeping customers updated on a consistent basis.

       ○ Once work has commenced, report on progress to customers, owners, project

           developers, and financial partners.

       ○ Work with Accounting to ensure that billing occurs at appropriate milestones.

● Keep track of goals and tasks, using Daylite and other tools.

• Manage teams, resources, costs, and contingencies.

       ○ Lead, manage, and hold crew leads accountable, providing coaching and

           development for them to do the same for their crew members.

       ○ Work with Warehouse Manager to ensure that all materials have been accurately

           procured, received, and staged following documented warehouse procedures.

       ○ Manage projects to ensure that they remain within budgeted labor hours.

       ○ Collaborate with other Project Managers, the Technical Department, and the

           Director of Operations when faced with unforeseen difficulties.

● Identify opportunities to reduce costs and minimize risk.

● Develop systems to manage safety and quality assurance on-site.

● Enforce all applicable safety procedures, seeing that Crew Leads do the same.

● Coordinate installers, technicians, vendors, and subcontractors. Monitor their work to ensure

compliance with specifications, schedules, and budget.

● Provide technical assistance and training to crew members (or contractors) as needed.

Identify opportunities for additional training.

● Check commissioning reports at the end of each project. Facilitate hand-off back to

sales/service.

● Actively participate in ongoing professional development, including written materials,

webinars, company meetings, etc.


Skills/Experience: 

Required

● 2+ years post-secondary credential or journeyman-level training

● 5+ years of work experience in construction or related field

● Minimum 3 years prior project management experience

● Software proficiency in Microsoft Office, Apple products, and iOS

● Planning and budgeting

● Personnel and resource management

● Organization, coordination, time management, and multi-tasking

● Familiarity with construction tools and technology

● Excellent verbal and written communication skills


Preferred

● Bachelor’s degree or master-level electrical certification

● PMP Certification

● Prior solar experience

● Understanding of solar energy systems and roofing


Physical Requirements:

● Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs unassisted

● Working on high roof areas. Both sloped and flat

● Capable of safely climbing ladders

● Capable of working in a tethered harness
